BUYER GUIDE / 08
What does a pajama manufacturer need for an accurate quote?
A useful manufacturing quote starts with a controlled product brief: the style, fabric direction, colours or print, size range, quantity per style and per colour, branding and packaging, destination market, target timing and sampling needs. Mark unknowns clearly so the factory can separate confirmed inputs from decisions that still need development.
Quick RFQ checklist
| Input | What to send | Why it affects the quote |
|---|---|---|
| Product | Tech pack, sketch, reference or existing sample | Defines silhouette and construction |
| Fabric | Composition, construction, weight or reference quality, colour and finish | Affects sourcing, consumption and process |
| Size & quantity | Measurement chart, size range and units per style, colour and size | Defines pattern scope and order breakdown |
| Branding | Labels, artwork, print, embroidery, hangtags and packaging | Adds materials, setup and approval steps |
| Market & timing | Destination country, required tests and target launch or delivery window | Identifies open compliance and planning questions |
| Sample | What the sample must prove and where it will be sent | Defines development scope before bulk |
1. Start with the product, not a broad category
“Women’s pajamas” is a category rather than a production specification. Share the front and back design, top and bottom details, collar or neckline, placket, pockets, sleeves, cuffs, hem, piping, elastic and intended fit. Identify which elements are fixed and which are open to development.
2. Define the fabric direction separately
State the preferred fibre composition, woven or knit construction, weight where known, hand feel, drape, stretch and recovery where relevant, opacity, colour and print or dye direction. “Cotton” does not define a weave or weight, and “satin” does not identify a fibre. If you only have a physical reference, say which qualities should be matched.
3. Give quantity per style and per colour
Production is planned by style and colour, not only by the total units in a collection. “One button-front set in two colours, 100 pieces each” is clearer than “200 pajamas.” NAIDI PAJAMAS has a standard minimum order of 100 pieces per style per colour; material and trim feasibility are checked against the actual brief.
4. Connect sizes to a measurement chart
Send the sample size, grading or measurement chart, tolerance requirements and proposed quantity by size. Do not rely on a generic US, UK or EU size name alone. The approved measurement chart and sample become the practical reference for production.
5. List every branded and packaging item
Include main labels, size labels, care labels, prints, embroidery, hangtags, stickers, barcodes, bags or boxes, folding, carton quantities and carton marks. Provide artwork version, dimensions, material, colours and placement where available. Use the label and packaging approval checklist to control the handoff.
6. Explain what the sample must prove
State whether the sample is for fit, construction, fabric direction, colour, print placement, branding, packaging or a combined review. Simple samples take 7–12 calendar days and complex samples 15–20 after full payment of the quoted sample fee. A revised sample is charged at 70% of the original sample development fee.
7. Name the destination market and required checks
Identify where the product will be sold and share any retailer, importer, testing, labelling or packaging requirements supplied by your adviser. The destination market helps identify questions for quotation; it does not transfer the brand’s compliance responsibility to the factory.

Why can two quotations differ?
Two prices are comparable only when they describe the same fabric, construction, sizing, quantities, trims, artwork, packaging, testing and delivery scope. Ask each supplier to record exclusions, substitutions and open assumptions rather than comparing only the final number.
PREPARE YOUR RFQ
Send the clearest version you have.
Share your product brief and mark open decisions. Jamie can identify the inputs needed for sampling and quotation without treating an early estimate as a final production specification.
