BUYER GUIDE / 10

How to plan a pajama manufacturing timeline: samples, approvals and bulk production.

Plan a sleepwear project backwards from the selling window, but treat each approval as its own decision point. Separate the product brief, fabric and trim confirmation, sample review, revisions, labels and packaging, bulk readiness, inspection and shipment planning.

1. Start with decisions that affect every later step

Define product, fabric direction, colours or print, sizes, quantity per style and colour, labels, packing and destination market. Mark open decisions so an early discussion is not mistaken for an approved production instruction.

2. Give each sample stage a purpose

A sample may review fit, construction, fabric direction, branding or packing. If a correction is needed, record what changes and what remains approved. Simple samples normally take 7–12 calendar days and more complex styles normally take 15–20 after the full sample fee is received. These are planning ranges, not delivery guarantees.

3. Freeze the bulk-production reference

Keep the approved sample version, measurement chart, material and trim references, artwork, labels, packing instructions and buyer requirements together. This becomes the reference for early-piece and finished-garment review.

4. Plan labels and packaging alongside the garment

Care labels, main labels, hangtags, barcodes, bags, cartons and marks need approved artwork and coordination. Include them in the plan rather than treating them as a final-day task. The buyer remains responsible for its market, retailer and importer requirements.

5. Keep change decisions visible

Fabric substitutions, colour changes, revised artwork, measurements or trims can change development scope. Record the affected reference, decision owner and next approval point.
